Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate of Northern Virginia (Ueshiro NoVA) was founded in 2000 after a group of like-minded karateka decided to turn their shared interests of practicing traditional Okinawan Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do into an official club. Ueshiro NoVA is part of the umbrella organization Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate USA (USRKUSA) under the direction of Hanshi Robert Scaglione, Ju-Dan. Hanshi Scaglione was hand selected by our founder, Master Ansei Ueshiro, to continue to preserve and protect the history, traditions, methods, and integrity of Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do after Master Ueshiro passed away in 2002. Since our inception, Ueshiro NoVA has grown as a fitness-loving community and has adopted a holistic approach to our karate training.
