Onegai-shimasu Hanshi, Kyoshi, Sensei, and Deshi of USRKUSA,

 

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, a small group of NoVA warriors dedicated their class to Hanshi Robert Scaglione and performed 85 kata in honor of his 85th birthday. We performed 10 of each kata moving up from Fukyugata Ichi through to Pinan Godan and then looped back to 5 additional Fukyugata San, as a special tribute to the friendship between Hanshi and Grand Master Ansei Ueshiro.

 

The kata were performed efficiently with minimal instruction in order to fit 85 in our 1.5 hour class. The tenth one in each series was performed with Master Ueshiro style full speed and power.

 

Domo arigato, Hanshi, for the shining example that you set for each of us. We wish you many more birthdays!
